Gorgeous area! We stayed right next to the Root River and it was a lovely experience – we saw a golden eagle land on the cliff while we were having coffee! The sites were well maintained and the campground was quiet. Campground store had the necessities and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Lanesboro is an easy drive away, so the location is perfect for taking a short drive to explore the area while having a quiet place to come home to. We’re definitely coming back this year!
Scenery is spectacular
Just spend a weekend at Eagle Cliff Campground. I must say, this is one of the nicest campgrounds I have been to in the last 12 years. The campground is almost park like. Sites are all grass. For RV’s there is a small gravel pad. Rates are very reasonable. Over 250 sites, with 100 seasonal. Located on the Root River, they offer canoe and kayak trips as well as tubing. They take you 3 miles upriver to Lanesboro and you exit right in the campground. No getting into a bus while wet to go back to camp.
While across the river from the Root river state trail, you can get on 1/3 of a mile away.
Scenery is spectacular in the Root river valley. I highly recommend the campground.
Owners go above & beyond!
We were here this weekend for the Minnesota Street Rod Association Spring Campout. It’s is an absolutely beautiful property with top notch owners who are very friendly. They really try to go above and beyond to make sure your stay is great. Family friendly with many activities. Easy access to the bike trails, tubing, canoeing, kayaking, and many things to do in Lanesboro which is a very close drive or 11 miles round trip via the bike trail. Our family will definitely be back.
The campground is immaculate
We’ve been camping here for three years and absolutely love it. The campground is immaculate and the campsites are huge. We love the fact that it’s beautifully kept up and they are improving all the time. The staff is incredibly friendly and the seasonal people are friendly as well. We love it here so much, that we’ve recently purchased a camper on a seasonal site. Can’t imagine being anywhere else.
I can’t say enough about the campground
Our weekend was so much fun. The kids enjoyed the playground and the river. The amenities were wonderful. We all loved the canoe trip and every one was so nice and friendly. We are definitely going to visit again! Such a beautiful place and no mosquitoes was an unexpected bonus.
I can’t say enough about this campground and it’s staff. After initially finding this gem, I spent 3 full weekends here this summer. They worked with me when plans fell through and moved us around to accommodate additions to our group. The sites are very well maintained and the spacing is generous. We can’t wait for next summer, this place is a kayaking/biking mecca. It truly meets all of our needs…truly the best in bluff country!
We really enjoyed our stay
We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful campground near Lanesboro, MN. The campsite was roomy with a nice picnic table and fire ring (provided). The camp restrooms and showers were clean, but do cost money, 25 cents for 4 minutes. Access to the bike trail was simple, but you will need to ride on Hwy 16 for a short distance to Whalan. The camp store was stocked with basics (end of season), and though I didn’t use it they had plenty of firewood available. Next time we come out we are going to take advantage of the activities (tubing, canoeing and kayaking). Overall it was a very relaxing visit.
Nice, clean campground
This was our 3rd visit to Eagle Cliff Campground. We visit friends that have a seasonal spot. Nice, clean campground and shower houses. Full hook-ups with fire ring and picnic table; everything you need. Friendly and welcoming staff. It is obvious the owners take pride in their campground!
I was extremely impressed
I have experienced Eagle Cliff as a camper at least four times in the past 10 years. This time I experienced Eagle Cliff is a person who rented a room at their five room motel . I was extremely impressed every time I stayed at this campground. It is clean and well taken care of safe and very well monitored. The axis to the bike path and the river make it even more enjoyable. I own a couple of kayaks but when I bring my family next year I’m going to exercise the option to rent tubes and kayaks for a pleasant trip down the river. I like the fact that there’s wood to purchase and information in the office about any place we would like to visit. I have camped all over the United States and Eagle Cliff stands out as one of the stellar places to stay.
It was a great weekend.
We were looking for a campground close to the bike trail. We chose Eagle Cliff as it was close to the trail. The campground was very clean and neat. We were greeted on check-in, instructed how to get to our site, and the layout of the campground. They did a great job. The bike trail was easy to get to and was a smooth quite flat trail. There were small towns on the trail that accommodate to the bike traffic. There were plenty of businesses to find food or other supplies as needed. The campground had plenty of activities to keep you busy there. The sites ere good size, the bath and shower areas were very good condition and very clean. It was a great weekend.
Great access to local attractions
Such a tucked away park, with great access to local attractions, and in-house amenities that make staying here so easy, and worthwhile. The staff go out of their way to give you a good experience, and work like crazy maintaining a beautiful park.
